After two private visits in Kenya Carsten and Silke Werner founded Seed of Hope in 1998 as a charitable society. The vision of the founding members is to support orphanages and support Christian education among young people.
Their home church in Osnabrück “Andreasgemeinde” have been supporting them from the beginning of their work in Kenya.
1999 Silke and Carsten permanently moved to Kenya and lived in the village of Liavo to build the first children´s home.
In 2001 and 2004 two more homes were built. A nursery school and a clinic were added in 2002 and 2003. Seed of Hope built its own church in 2005, so our orphans have their spiritual home there. And in 2007 a Primary School was built and gives now room for 250 children from the whole area. Now more than 30 people are working for Seed of Hope, so we are the biggest employer in the area. In Germany the number or members and sponsors grew with the size and needs of the project. We thank God for His provision and believe that he will continue to care for our mission station in the highlands of Kenya.
